A big welcome to dreemstyletransit……
It has been awhile in the making but here it is eventually after many a late night banging my head against the keyboard and wrestling with the beast that is code (a big thank you to Darren of the rather brilliant Little Chimp Society, for some much needed technical assistance..cheers.)
Introducing ‘Desmond and Tim’………….
These two guys occupy the space above my monitor and are a constant presence while working away at my art. Anyone unfamiliar with the ‘IN-CROWD’ collectibles designed by UK illustrator James Jarvis and produced by AMOS, just has to know these are the daddy in desktop ornaments. The In Crowd consists of themed sets of urban stereotypes…think bikers,punks,new-wave and anything and everything in-between.
Desmond…the one that looks like a camp rabbit, comes from a magical mystery tour – yellow submarine inspired set (dig those kinky boots) named ‘Major Moultys Amazing Magical Plastic Band’. When times get frustrating this fella is the epitome of ‘lighten up dude’ wisdom.
Next we have Time Zone Tim….I found him a few years back in a charity shop still in his original display box, and all for the bargain price of 50p. A few days back I decided on a whim to research him as something told me he was slightly special in the world of In Crowd. Turns out he is one of a set of 7 figures..’The Nokia Office Archetypes’. Designed by James Jarvis for a nokia advertising campaign during late 2004 & early 2005, a corporate gift for their business clients. Only 1200 came in the limited box set..the rarest of the In Crowd yet and a holy grail for the collector. A look on Ebay found 1 set going for $399……I am now wondering where Tims box buddies are!
