A quick post here of an image I made last year which I thought I had lost……
Turns out it was hiding on a disc which was labelled incorrectly (my bad!) The image is made up of elements I shot outside a diner in New Jersey I frequented a few times while staying with my good buddy Mark ‘Normski’ Norman.
Being from the UK I was kind of taken aback by the whole place..chrome fittings, neon and the sweet as cherry pie ‘have a nice day’ service. Oh did I forget to mention the food and portions..yep this was the whole shebang as far as I was concerned. Anyways this image captures nicely the hot and humid two weeks I spent last July based in New Jersey. Thanks Mucho Mark and the diners on 14 N Black Horse Pike Williamstown NJ if anyones interested.

Geets was my grandfather and founder of the restaurant with my grandmother, Rose. He passed away about 35 years ago. He was well well respected to the extent that they had to extend the visiting hours at the funeral home beacuse of the long line. My grandmother was a businesswoman ahead of her time. My father took over the business and retired about 20 years ago to Wisconsin. The Geets part of the sign is part of the original. The complete original sign went down in a storm. My much younger sisters found your posting but they do not know the history of the sign or our paternal grandparents. I am happy to see anything that extends the legacy.
