I recently had the pleasure of designing the full album digipak artwork for a 'punk piano' duo called the 'Needle Poppets'. The album entitled 'Fame To The Nation" is a concept of sorts dealing with the rise and fall of fame & the strange and depraved places it seems to take some people. Many of the tracks feature a range of sad characters...an alcoholic suicidal clown, a precocious boy pianist and a corpse prostitute to name but a few. After listening to there material I thought it would be a good idea to go down a darkly whimsical route with these characters in the artwork, best encapsulating the theatrically dramatic sound the band produce. I also undertook a photoshoot, dressing the model as the clown character Plinky. These images were then used in the final artwork for the CD disc & behind disc page.
You can hear & purchase this great album here http://needlepoppets.bandcamp.com/
In other news I have currently finished the teaser single artwork (to be posted here upon release) for a band called the Ancient Addicts. The debut album artwork is to come in a few months time..watch this space!

A couple of examples of some design work for Jacobs Maintenance & Landscaping in Newquay. The branding called for a vintage look to it to echo the traditional work values and flamboyancy of the customer as well as standing out from other businesses in the same field. Initial inspiration was from vehicle signage from days gone by & a particular style of prewar graphic design. The font used for the 'Jacobs' & 'J' mark was a custom setting of 'EVENTIDE' from the Photolettering dept of the guys at House Industries. The designs and others will eventually be rolled out across vehicle signage, business cards and any other print work.
Another example of flyer/poster design work (artwork minus the event details shown) I have been working on recently. This ones for the Bad Science guys in Newquay advertising their 'Chem E Kaze' night. An old school rave flavoured event being held on the 14th Sept at 'The Shack' in Newquay in aid of the Treliske Hospital Neonatal unit in Cornwall. The font used is 'Retro Stereo Thin' which I have elaborated on to give the effect of tubes running in and out of elements within the image.
Loved working this poster up for The Beached Lamb cafe in Newquay. I have been waiting awhile now to use the font 'Rolska Lite' for a suitable project and this fitted the bill perfectly for the main title. Mr Agogo & friends will be playing an eclectic set of music every Saturday from the 25th May in the cozy surrounds of the Lamb. 8-onwards..
